There are three
common ways to read any book:
- Audiobooks
- e-books or kindle
- Paperback
Audiobooks
Out of all the
three, audiobooks are considered as the most distractive one. But the
advantage of an audiobook is that you will able to hear the book even
when you are working on something else.
Yes, it is obvious that multi-tasking will give only divided attention to the
book. But, it is better to drive a car with a book playing back than not
listening to one.
e-books
e-books are the ones
that are easily reachable. They have a similar benefit to reading a paperback. You will be easily able to download books from various sites. And mostly
many registered websites provide e-books completely free. This means that you will
have a pool of knowledge for free at your hands. Also, e-books are less costly
when compared to paperbacks and hardcovers.
The con of using an e-book is that it does not give the feeling of holding a physical book and also
it is quite difficult if you want to skim through the previous pages for any
reference.
Paperbacks
Paperbacks are
generally most useful when you are studying (In case of textbooks, or any
learning materials). Paperbacks make it easy for you to skim back for
reference. Papers are easy to flip back and forth. And also, paperbacks give
you the feeling of reading a book and will also help you by spending some time
away from all the gadgets.
My personal choice
I always prefer
paperbacks over e-books and audiobooks because I love the feeling of
holding the book and reading. I connect deeply with the book only if I read it
in paperback. Also, the speed of my reading is high only in paperback.
Whereas, e-books sometimes bore me and it feels like a chore to me. However,
e-books are easily accessible and storable.
The take away is
that, you have to explore all the choices of reading a book and get comfortable
in choosing the right type of reading format that is suitable for you.
