In this busy world
where there is always something to be done in-home and work. You might run
with a never-ending to-do list. Your
family and friends demand your time. You have daily chores, important tasks,
deadlines and what not!
Life might get
really tiring and exhausting if you keep on running. Sometimes, to squeeze our
schedule with more tasks and to get them done we sacrifice so much of our
self-care. We cross out our 'me time', skip the gym, forget a meal to attend to
the world. At the end of the day, all you feel might be ' Is this life worth
all the pressure?'
To ease your work
and to calm yourself, you will need to stop and take care of yourself.
Excessive or prolonged stress can result in mental and physical exhaustion.
This might lead to physical and mental concerns. You have to rest and
rejuvenate to get yourselves together. Self-care and calming down shouldn't
always be an expensive massage or a retreat. Just as socializing with friends
for fun and taking an aimless walk would boost your mood.
Without self-care
you also become sore and drain out of energy often. Just as you fuel the engine
to work properly. You have to induce self-care in your daily activities to
perform better.
1. Get enough rest and
relaxation
Having a good sleep will
increase your mood and will help you to perform better the next day. It is
essential to have a better sleep routine with at least 6 to 8 hours of good
sleep. Your brain is just getting recharged for you to function effectively for
the next.
You can also feel relaxed without
a rush the whole day by taking small breaks. Just walk and socialize or close
your eyes and calm yourself. You can listen to relaxing music or just take a
walk. But practice relaxing yourself infrequent breaks. Don’t overburden your
mind with all the tasks and pressure just to bust it out at a long-planned
vacation. Just let everything go now.
2. Evaluate and enhance your
coping ability
How we cope with our daily life and all those
life's tantrums have so much to do with how we take care of ourselves. What do
you do if we had a heated argument with your partner? Scream, being aggressive
and hurtful or just trying to be calm, having a healthy argument or just tackling
with the right sense.
The positive coping skills at the time of
pressure are Deep breathing, stretching, meditation, listening to music,
exercising, reading, going for walk, taking a hot shower, socializing, engaging
in a hobby. You have to just include these skills in your daily life to calm
you down more effectively.
3.Allowing yourself for
occasional treat
If you are someone who is very health
conscious or if you are in the ardent about losing weight you might have
starved yourself. Or you would have had only fruits and veggies avoiding all
the junk food. But once in a while, you just have to relax the rules so that
your mind would feel good.
It is obviously harmful if you consume sugar-based food whenever you feel like it. But yes, once a month is not too bad, right?
4. Scheduling time for physical
exercise
Have a particular time for physical exercise
be it jogging, yoga or gym. Just schedule a time a stick to it. Never
compromise your workout time for others. Because exercise relaxes you and boosts your mood which will help you to be extra productive and enthusiastic
throughout the whole day.
5. Setting healthy boundaries
Self-care is about setting emotional boundaries. You should be trained to say no to things that overburden
you or try to pull into the despair. Never lend an ear to the unhealthy
relationship or to the over-curious relatives who need to know everything in
your life. Set your boundaries so strong that they can never even peep into
your life once you have said a firm no.
6. Never skip your meal
So much of us have this habit of skipping
the meal if there is so much work or after an angry fight. We think that
skipping a meal would speed up our work or calm our moods. But no it is exactly
the opposite. Your body is hungry and it is already showing you the signals of
it. You have to listen to it and feed it properly else it will never let you
work in peace.
Have
you ever felt that when you are hungry, you can never concentrate on any given
task. Your mind will always be circling all the food you can eat. Just eat and
then continue your work or be angry. But never skip your meal!
7. Journal your thoughts
I have already said this multiple
times and I will continue to say this even for a million times more. Please
keep a journal. Journal is the best way to ease away your pain in an easy way.
Just by writing down your thoughts you will feel much lighter. When you give
life to your thoughts in the form of words you feel as though you have undone
your burden. Just try it once you will feel much better.
8. Talk to a friend
With our daily schedule and all the work, we
forget our friends. It is not that we don't remember them, we just don’t talk
with them most often like the old days. Just phone a friend and talk. May be
about the good old days where you all were carefree and happy. Just socializing with an old friend will comfort you way more than you think.
9. Take a break and binge-watch
your favorite series
Have a day to binge-watch Netflix. Be in
the world you wish to. Hunger games or Vampire diaries just watch and sink with
the story to forget about all the chaos around you. You deserve some self-time!
10. Visit a place of peace
A soothing and peaceful environment mighthave a greater effect on your mood. Find a cozy spot or visit a peaceful park
and spend some time there with yourself. You will feel much better than ever!
Happy self-care!
