7 Tips to start living your dream life!

All of us dream about having an ideal life surrounded by people and things we love.

Some of us might love our present life while some desperately want it to change.

In my experience, the vast majority of people are not satisfied with their current life. People want things to change. They want relationships to be rosy, money to be abundant, and life to be joyful.

There is no harm in fantasizing to live a better life. But, the thing is your ideal life will remain a mere fantasy if you only keep dreaming without putting any action.

These 7 tips will act as a nudge to push you to actually LIVE your dream life. After all, it is one life and one chance!

1. Realization

Realization is the key to any change.

Just pause for a moment and ask yourself "Am I happy with this life?", "Do I love the job I do?", "Do I love the relationship I am in?". Be honest with yourself while answering these questions.

If something is not to your likely then please consider changing it. You will never live your ideal life by just sitting and worrying about it.

We don’t have hundreds of years to live. We are mortal beings with a finite lifespan. In these short years, we are not put on this wonderful planet to do things we hate and bewail about it.

2. Define your dream

Do not have a vague dream. I repeat, DO NOT HAVE A VAGUE DREAM!

A dream will be a mere dream if you don’t plan and set proper goals for it.

For instance, If your dream is to travel the world. Then you should not just say  "My dream is quitting and traveling the world". You should define how you are going to do it. Which places you will visit? What will you do to cover the finances? When are you planning to quit? What about emergency funds?

Have concrete plans and then take a step forward. Always plan prior to avoid any regrets of choosing your dream over anything. A dream backed up with a strong plan is more likely to manifest in reality than a vague dream without a plan.

3. Define the trigger for your dream

What made your dream "your dream"? Why do you want to go after your dreams?

Most of the time, we will not even have our own dream. We will just be inspired by the works of others and take up their dreams like ours.

If we take the example of quitting the job and traveling the world. Ask yourself "Why do I want to travel the world?", " Was I triggered by some other influencer or travel blogger or do I really want to explore the world?"

Your trigger has a lot to do with your consistency in the goal. Only if your dream has really rooted in your liking and passion you will be able to perform in it consistently. Else, you will give up soon and go back to your old life.

4. Visualize the future

To increase your passion for your dream, you can visualize how it will look if you started following your dream.

Just imagine how your life would have taken a turn if you follow your dreams. The happiness you will get by doing what you love. Feel all the feelings.

Sit for ten minutes a day and visualize being successful in your dreams. This will increase your need to achieve that goal even more.

5. Start small, but start

I have always emphasized this. Please start working on your dreams.

You no need to put 8 hours of work every day. Just half an hour of focused work on your dreams will help you achieve them very easily. You just have to start and I promise that you will figure it out along the way.

6. Have control over your thoughts and emotions

Sometimes, we don’t even start on our dreams because of intruding thoughts we have about it. Some of the common thoughts, we have before working on our dreams are
  • It is a waste of time
  • I am tired
  • I am wasting my time
  • I cannot do it
  • I am not willing to risk anything
  • I don’t feel safe and secured
  • I feel this is not working

Some thoughts destroy our dreams before even starting. We also let our emotions flow and take control. We are scared to start on something we dream. We mostly focus on the negative part than on the positive side of trying anything. All these are the result of our negative thoughts and emotions.

So before leaping in make sure you have the right mindset to tackle all the things life throws at you.

7. Ignore destructive criticism

This is very important if you are embarking on the journey to follow your dreams. Remember, you cannot control anything/anyone except yourselves. Do not get upset because of society's negative comments on your choice.

People might upset you. So please ignore all the negative criticism you get and always accept any constructive criticism and work towards improving yourself.

All the best!
