How to train your mind to be optimistic?

Being optimistic is one of the great things that you can do to yourself. There are numerous benefits to being able to see light in dark situations. Research says that people who have an optimistic outlook towards life tend to be more productive, creative and happy.
The most common misconception of optimistic people is concluding that they always think positive. Positive thinking is not optimism. Optimism is the ability to see good in bad. It is the capacity of a person to handle a not so good situation effectively.
Optimistic people are also the happiest people on the planet. They have an effective solution to every problem and are more likely to develop a growth mindset.
Optimists also have less cortisol (the stress hormone) and more serotonin (the mood-boosting neurotransmitter) flowing through their systems.
Optimism is rooted in both the personality trait and from the environment. The socio-economic factors affect a person's mindset in a huge manner. People who were brought up in a happy and calm environment are more likely to be optimistic than the people who were raised in an abusive household.
But, the thing is anyone can learn to be optimistic. No matter what your situation maybe you will be able to see the light through the dark if you had a little tuning to your mind. When your inner perspective changes, the outer world changes along with that.
Below are some of the ways you can be optimistic

1. Gratitude

The first and foremost need for you to be happy, content or optimistic is gratitude. Being grateful to everything you have in your life will take you to places. There is nothing powerful than a heartfelt 'Thanks'. When you appreciate everything you have in your life currently, you will most probably live in the present without getting depressed about the past or anxious about the future.

2. Act of kindness

Always, be kind to everyone you meet. Everyone is fighting a battle that you will never know. As simple as a slight smile of yours might change someone's mood. Be kind and gentle to all those you meet. Give to the community or donate something to your favorable charity. You will never know whose life you are changing. So continue doing good deeds and expect nothing in return. The best feeling in the world is knowing that you are making an impact in the lives of others.

3. Affirmations

Affirmations are a good way to remind you that 'You are capable'. Stick posters of affirmations around you have a positive wallpaper. Dictate your mind to be optimistic through these affirmations. I am not saying that just by writing 'I am positive' and seeing it daily will help you be optimistic. I am saying that affirmations might come into help when you are really low. When you train your mind through affirmations it might boost your confidence level at hard times.

4. Be a solution digger

Whenever faced by a problem rather than sitting and worrying, start finding solutions to your problems.
Every problem on this earth has a solution that only a right mind can find. Therefore, develop the habit of thinking about a solution whenever a problem exists.

5. Mind your words

"if you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say it at all". Catch yourself when you start complaining. Complaining is the greatest companion of misery. So choose your words carefully. Not only when talking to others but also while talking to yourself. Stop complaining and see how the world around you arranges itself for better things.

Why is mental health important at Workplace?

Everyone has Mental Health. We talk as if mental health is needed only when people are depressed or sad. But, no mental health is essential to everyone every day. Just like you have physical health, you have mental health also. First, you need to clear in what mental health is to promote it or follow it. I have seen and worked in companies where so much importance is given to physical health. For example, the company that I worked for has a "Step - count" challenge where the person who has walked the highest steps in a day will be rewarded with gift vouchers. Mostly all the MNCs have Marathons and 10k, 20k running challenge. Also, every company has a sports team. I have been there done that. When it is good and healthy to give importance to employee's physical health; most companies miss out on the need to give importance to the employee's mental health. There is so little or no activities or programs that are conducted for Mental Wellness. I think no...
