8 Steps to follow for setting a goal right

Do you know what you want in 5 years of time? Do you know where you will be in the next 10 years? You just can't tell you will be a millionaire within the next five years while having no concrete plan. The daily habits you build and the goals you achieve today will count to your success in the next 5 to 10 years.

To achieve any form of success, you need goal setting. An effectively organized goal will take you where you want to go. Without a goal, you will not have focus and direction in your life.

To accomplish your goals, however, you need to know how to set them. You can't simply say, "I want" and expect it to happen. Goal setting is a process that starts with careful consideration of what you want to achieve and ends with a lot of hard work to actually do it. In between, there are some very well-defined steps that transcend the specifics of each goal. Knowing these steps will allow you to formulate goals that you can accomplish.

1. Your goal should be motivating

You will have interest and commitment towards a goal only if the outcome is favorable to you. You should value your goal. It should be the utmost priority in your life currently. When you have an inner urge that says "I must do this" then you are more likely to achieve your goal. If you don't have this then you are probably wasting your time in the name of the goal. You will for sure end up being disappointed and frustrated with your goal. You may also frame a mindset like " I cannot do anything", which is really dangerous for your future goals.

2. Be specific about your goal

You have to have clarity on what you are going to achieve. You must know why you are working towards your goal and how to achieve it. For example, if you want to become rich you cannot just vaguely set a goal like "I am going to earn lots of money". You have to know how much you are going to make and how. You should first choose what you are going to work, formulate strategies to earn money, do market research on the money part and you should set a goal accordingly. Goals should pave you the way to success not block you from it.

3. Your goals should be measurable

Include precise amount or dates to your goal. As said earlier just setting a goal like " I will earn a lot" will not come into a measurable goal. A measurable goal will sound like " I am going to earn 10 lakh within 2021, by increasing my sales funnel and also by working on a sales model which I am going to sell online that will generate passive income. So, when I have these many opportunities to create money I can for sure earn 10 lakh effectively".
What do you think about the above two examples? Which one sounds precise? Your mind loves clarity. Once you are really clear about what you want and how you want it, it will show you ways to achieve it.

4. Set Attainable goals

Sometimes we get so furious and have overconfidence in ourselves so that we set like non-attainable goals. Our mind already knows that this is not gonna work out. When you set really high goals, it will be very easy to be demotivated. As a result, you will not achieve your goal. To make your larger goals easier, you should break your goals into smaller chunks that are attainable. By doing so, you will make it easy for your mind to digest your goals and it will become efficient to achieve your goals.

5. Set time-bound goals

Your goals should have a deadline. When you work on a deadline, the sense of urgency increases and achievement will come much quicker.

6. Reward yourself

As I said earlier, break your huge goal into smaller achievable chunks. Reward yourself after completing one chunk of the huge goal. This will keep you going and your motivation level will increase.

7. Write down your goals

Writing down your goals will make it real and tangible. When writing down your goals, you should use an optimistic phrase. For example " I will earn 10 lakhs within 2021" is much optimistic than "I would like to earn money". In the first statement you are using "will", it means that you are already seeing yourself achieving the goal. Writing down a goal has a lot of power and will give you no chance to forget it.

8. Design the process

Most of the people just set goals and forget about the action plan. An action plan to achieve the goal is much important than the outcome. So, before setting any goal one should know the action plan of the goal. Thy should design the process of how they are going to achieve the goal and the strategies they are going to use. If one is crystal clear about all this, nothing can stop them from achieving their goal.
