Gaming is one thing and game addiction Is the
other. We cannot say that everyone who plays the game is addicted. There are some
symptoms of game addiction.
- Thinking about gaming all or a lot of the time
- Feeling bad when you can’t play
- Needing to spend more and more time playing to feel good
- Not being able to quit or even play less
- Not wanting to do other things that you used to like
- Having problems at work, school, or home because of your gaming
- Playing despite these problems
- Lying to people close to you about how much time you spend playing
- Using gaming to ease bad moods and feelings
These are some symptoms of game addiction. Serious gamers spend almost 16 to 18
hours/day playing games. Game addiction
can cause a serious threat to the future. It may reflect in the grades of
school and college-going kids. It might
also cost the health and relationship of those who are addicted. Serious gaming
will create a dysfunctional pattern of life. People with gaming addiction will
be considered having mental disorders. They will always feel isolated from the rest
of society and feel hard to cope up with daily life. They will always
live in a virtual world of gaming and refuse to come into reality.
When
someone is so much addicted to gaming it is really hard for them to overcome
within a single day. It might take months or years to completely overcome. But you can overcome if you break the
psychology that keeps your gaming.
1. Break your motivation
Your
brain tricks you into gaming through cognitive biases and attachments you have
developed. You justify gaming because you don’t want to lose your progress or
the money you’ve invested. To quit you need to overcome these.
2. Commit to quitting a stick to
it
Don't
just limit your time of gaming. Just commit to never gaming again and stick to
it. I know that it is easy said than to be followed. But, commit yourself to
pursue your goals and dreams. There is so much out there than just gaming.
Promise yourself that you will come out of this gaming loop and take a step
towards a brighter future.
3. Find out new hobbies to fill
the gap
Most
of the addictive games are social games. Single-player games cannot be
addictive as much as a multiplayer or a social player game is. So, when you
takeout that social factor of the game when quitting it, try to replace it with
going out more, partying or making new friends.
If
you are laying on your bed staring at the ceiling, you’ll justify gaming
because it can’t be any worse than being bored all day. To successfully quit
you must find replacement activities.
4. Develop a good mindset
All
those tactics and tips to overcome addiction are all great. But, not a single
thing will work out if you don't have the right mindset to overcome it. You
may go back to where you were if you
were forced to end gaming, you have your own life. It is ultimately your choice
whether to make good use of your time and life or whether to waste your time,
health and future by gaming. You have to develop a mindset to tackle all that
life throws at you with will power!
